The first white copy is completed and kept as your copy of the ticket. The back includes the affidavit of service and is only completed when mailing the ticket. Send this copy to the court.
Violation Tickets
Use this page as a quick reference for ticket copy types, common ticket questions, examples, and specified penalties. Always confirm current legislation, policy, site direction, and court requirements before issuing or submitting a ticket.
Summons - Part 2
The pink copy is used when a court appearance is required or in the public interest. Submit Parts 1, 3, and 4 to the courthouse.
- Public interest requires the person to appear in court.
- The fine amount is over $1,000.
- The operator's licence is from out of province.
Voluntary Payment - Part 3
The yellow copy is used for most offences. The fine amount must match the Specified Penalty Listing. Submit Parts 1, 2, and 4 to the courthouse.
Additional Copy - Part 4
The second white copy is similar to Part 1, but has a different back side. Send this copy to the court.
Youth Offenders
A notice must be given to the parent of a young person when a Part 2 ticket is issued under the Provincial Offences Procedure Act if a mandatory court appearance is required, the offence is under the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, or the young person fails to make the voluntary payment.

Where do tickets go?
Put issued tickets in the Protective Services Manager's mailbox, located in the office behind the door to the Protective Services Manager's office.
Do I set the fine?
No. Fine amounts are specific to the offence and must be taken from the Specified Penalty Listing.
How does the offender pay?
Tell the offender to wait at least two weeks for court processing. They can pay at a courthouse, registry office, or online using the ticket number under the barcode.
Can I write a warning ticket?
Yes, but warning tickets are not recognized by the courts and should not be submitted. Clearly write WARNING in the fine amount area and tell the offender it is a warning.
Can a submitted ticket be withdrawn?
No. Withdrawals must be handled by the courthouse. If there is an error, contact the courthouse or wait for the court date, as the ticket may be quashed.
What if someone refuses the ticket?
Continue as normal and note on the back that the offender refused to take the ticket. Once submitted, the courthouse will attempt to contact them by mail.
Out-of-province licence
Complete the ticket the same way, but check Complaint instead of Certificate of Offence and Service. Check Voluntary Payment Option and serve the ticket as Part 2 so there is a court obligation and a payment option.
Court calendar
Use the court calendar for adult and youth traffic court sittings. Most courts prefer court dates to be set on a Monday.
